Jason Dundas is a busy dude. He’s based in the US, but jets back to our sandy shores frequently as the host of hit TV talent show X Factor. He’s also a David Jones fashion ambassador, runs his own production company, has an active-wear label, is a certified health coach and PT. We caught up at Higher Ground recently to find out his top spots to eat in some of his favourite cities. Introducing Jason Dundas x

Where’s your favourite spot to eat in…

Magic Mountain Saloon in the city – I’m a big fan of Cookie and they have a similar vibe

Nomad (Surry Hills), Porch and Parlour (Bondi), About Life (Double Bay), Folonomo (Surry Hills) – they donate 100% of their profits to charity which is awesome

Los Angeles?

Chego (Downtown LA) – awesome Asian fusion, Plain Check (West Hollywood) – they do amazing burgers, M Cafe (Hollywood, Beverly Hills & Brentwood)

New York?

Epistrophy Cafe (Downtown NYC), Eataly (Downtown NYC), The Laughing Man, Bubby’s – the fried chicken is a must-try

What’s your go-to snack?

Vega protein bars – delicious and filling.

What’s the best meal you’ve ever had?

That’s a tough one! I’d have to say American Thanksgiving food. It’s still new for me as an Aussie and the novelty hasn’t worn off yet! It’s an exciting cheat meal.

I’m also a big fan of whipping up steak with avocado and veggies at home – yum!

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?

You’ll never be nervous if you’re over prepared.
