Busy year? We feel that. It’s time you #treatedyoself and said buh bye to 2018 the best way we know how – with a breakfast adventure to all the places that blew our mind in the year that was.
In no particular order, here is your official brekkie itinerary for the holiyays.
A brilliant lunch and dinner venue and a lesser-known (but still very great) brekkie spot. The menu has an Asian flavour to it, with roti bread, black sticky rice, and silken tofu in the mix. They also do breakfast cocktails which is a bloody marvelous accompaniment to Christmas cheer.
We’ve been harping on about this place for a while now and for good reason. The menu is as diverse as it is good, and ranges from lemon cheesecake French toast to incredible health bowls, burgers and more.
The best dang smoothie bowls in the biz. DEFINITELY get the Snickers bowl. It is all kinds of tasty. And the bowl that involves an ice cream sandwich – #mindblown.
An awesome Sri Lankan/Aussie fusion cafe in Brunswick that will add something different, but very tasty, to your brekkie journey.
Very possibly Fitzroy’s best kept secret. This bakery slash cafe will instantly warm your soul with the scent of freshly baked goods and backs it up with the best tasting croissants in town.
Okay so we snuck a non-brekkie place in, forgive us. BUT, it’s cheesecake on a stick covered in chocolatey deliciousness and was worthy of a rule-break.
Let’s be honest, your breakfast adventure wouldn’t be complete without visiting a place that entirely focuses on pancakes. Pulled pork pancakes, sausage and apple pancakes, peanut butter chocolate pancakes and your traditional lemon and sugar – they have it ALL.
The cutest dang interior going around paired with hearty, yummy breakfast fare. Tick, tick!
Plant-based, gluten free and serving up buckwheat pancakes topped with Cocowhip – YUM! If you’re after fresh juices and generous smoothie bowls these are your people.
This place is seriously cool. It’s a buzzing gem in Baysie with the most #goals sweets cabinet we’ve ever seen. They also do some really cool stuff with dry ice, as documented below.
11. Grub – Fitzroy
A dog-friendly, inner-city glamping eatery – what more could you want? Oh, a funky interior and great-tasting food? Yup, they do that too.
Okay, okay we get that it’s summer but look at their mega hot chocolate would ya?! They also do epic brekkie dishes and word on the street is that their freak shakes are on par with their hot chocolate…
