It’s no secret that The Hungry Fox Cafe in Essendon Fields is excellent, in fact, we’ve written about them before. However, did you know that they’re part of the also-excellent La Manna group? Yup, those fabulous gourmet supermarkets who, FYI, also have another stupendously great cafe in Essendon Fields. We visited both the other day coz #greedy, to check out their menu updates and eat all the things.
At The Hungry Fox we enjoyed:
- the breakfast risotto with coconut and yoghurt rice, strawberry, rhubarb, pistachio and biscotti
- the padrona with mortadella, truffle bechemal & fontina grilled sandwich, a fried egg, & candied walnuts
- the avocado toast with diced & smashed avocado, tomatoes, Meredith feta, herbs, spice oat & almond crumble, & two poached eggs
- the pineapple fritter with honey yoghurt, coconut custard, berries & fruit
- the kids’ Nutella & banana toast
At La Manna Cafe we enjoyed:
- the blueberry & crostoli waffle with kiwi, blueberry & verjus compote, whipped ricotta & maple
- the green breakfast with poached eggs, greens, pumpkin hommus, avocado, spiced seeds, & veg chips
- the Italian porky beans on toast with baked cannellini beans, sugo, hock & pancetta, kale, crispy prosciutto, poached eggs & herb crumbs
- the mango smoothie bowl with mango, coconut milk & banana smoothie, kiwi, blueberry, coconut & buckwheat crumble
